This Stunning Arkansas Park, Has Waterfalls, Hiking Trails, Horseback Riding and More

This peaceful park is located on Lake Catherine, one of five lakes in the beautiful Ouachita Mountain region. The only full-service marina on the lake is here at the park and open in the summertime for bait, snacks/drinks, and fuel. The park also includes a launch ramp, pavilion, picnic sites, playgrounds, and a well-marked trail that leads to a waterfall. Lake Catherine State Park has 20 fully equipped cabins, including one two-bedroom cabin with a patio overlooking the water and private access to the lake from its own fishing pier. There are also many native stone and wood buildings on-site. The history of these structures dates back to the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Lake Catherine State Park offers 70 campsites (47 Class AAA and 23 Class B), six primitive tent sites, and one Rent-A-Yurt. Many of these sites are on the lakeshore. Park interpreters offer hikes, lake tours, and programs year-round.

Guided horseback rides are offered seasonally. Open daily at 10 a.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Fall & Winter: Open 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday through Thanksgiving. Though not required, reservations are recommended and to make horseback riding reservations only call 501-262-0777. They cannot answer questions about the park. $45 per person.

The park is scheduled to open to the public on March 19th 2023. It has been closed since December so park staff could do necessary maintenance. Pictures used in this article are owned by the Arkansas Parks service.

This Gorgeous Park With A Natural Bridge, A Stunning Lake And 10 Different Trails, You Need To Visit

Natural Bridge State Resort Park is a gorgeous 2,300 acre park located in Slade Kentucky. Situated between the Red River Gorge Geologic Area and Daniel Boone National Forest. The park is well known for it’s gorgeous natural bridge, and the relaxing resort found within it. However, this is just the start of everything wonderful you will find at Natural Bridge State Resort Park.
HIKING The ten hiking trails range from one-half mile to seven-and-one-half miles. Trail maps are available at the Hemlock Lodge. Due to its Nature Preserve status, dogs are not allowed on hiking trails at this park except for the Whittleton Trail.
FISHING Mill Creek Lake is a small peaceful lake surrounded by beautiful forest and towering sandstone cliffs. Bass, bluegill, black crappie, longear sunfish, green sunfish, rainbow trout, channel catfish and black bullhead are found here. A Kentucky Fishing License is required. Ask at the park about their fishing loaner program where you can check out FREE equipment.
WATERSPORTS The lake is also perfect for paddling canoes and kayaks and a launch ramp is available for fishing boats. Canoes and Kayaks are available for rental Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Peddle Boats are no longer available.
Lodging and Camping Delight in the mountainside beauty of Natural Bridge State Resort Park. The Hemlock Lodge has 35 rooms with private balconies. Open year-round. Rooms are available by late afternoon. The park also has two campgrounds with both improved and primitive sites and two service buildings with showers and restrooms.
Swimming The pool complex is tucked between the lake and the cliff beneath Hemlock Lodge. The complex includes a spacious stone bathhouse, and a zero-depth (one can enter pool without steps) pool that holds 80,000 gallons of water. The main pool has a “river” theme with directional water jets and floor bubblers. Next to the main pool is a new fenced wading pool with floor bubbles and fountain.
Sky Lift For a more relaxing climb to natural bridge, enjoy a ride on the sky lift. The ascent begins one-half mile from the park entrance and ends within 600 feet of Natural Bridge. Open daily first weekend of April through the last weekend in October.
Other activities enjoyed at Natural Bridge State Resort Park include: Picnicking, mini-golf, and bird watching. There is also a restaurant, tavern, and gift shop.

This Hidden Gem State Park In Missouri Is An Excellent Place To Reconnect With Nature

With the ancient St. Francois Mountains, the unspoiled natural landscape and the cool waters of the St. Francis River and Big Creek, Sam A. Baker State Park has something for everyone. Sam A. Baker State Park is located at 5580 MO-143, in Patterson, Missouri. For more information, click here.

Access to both the river and creek gives anglers the opportunity to hook many varieties of fish and kayakers the chance to float year-round. Several miles of hiking, backpacking, bicycling and equestrian trails provide glimpses of the area as the earlier settlers found it. Exhibits in the park’s nature center interpret the natural and cultural history of the park.

Visitors can spend the night in either a rustic cabin or one of two large campgrounds. For horse lovers, there is a separate equestrian camp. Shaded picnic areas are available for small and large groups.

Sam A. Baker State Park has two campgrounds and an equestrian campground. The park also has a special-use camping area. Both regular campgrounds offer family campsites for those who need a little extra space. The park store offers supplies for your camping stay.

Nineteen rustic cabins made of native stone and wood are nestled within this scenic park. Most have fireplaces, kitchens, full baths, heating and air conditioning, outside grills, fire pits, and picnic tables. They are equipped with bedding, towels and kitchen utensils.
