A Brand New Lodge Is Set To Open In One Of The Midwest’s Most Spectacular Parks

There is a brand new place to stay at Ohio’s beloved Hocking Hills State Park! The Hocking Hills Lodge and Convention Center is opening to guests in the heart of the state park this week. The lodge is located at 20020 State Route 664 in Logan Ohio. For more information, click here.

The resort style lodge will have 81 rooms, an indoor and an outdoor pool, plenty of patio space, four indoor fireplaces, and the Rock House restaurant, the new location has been under construction since 2020.

Opening just in time to catch the incredible fall foliage the area is known for.

The newly-constructed lodge replaces one that burned down in 2016, although this lodge is a huge step up from its predecessor.

This glorious park is already a much-beloved vacation destination, and with the addition of the lodge, families will be able to enjoy first class accommodations while in the area!

I will do a follow up article when more details become available. Pictures used in this article belong to Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center.

The Only Alpine Coaster In Illinois Is Now Open, Here Are The Details

Aerie’s Resort in Grafton Illinois, just recently debuted the only Alpine Coaster in Illinois. Aerie’s Resort is located at 14 W Main Street in Grafton, Illinois. For more information or to book your stay call:   (618) 786-9477 or for more information, click here.

The resort is planning  a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the new ride at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Although it did officially open on September 29th.

Riders board a two-person sled and can reach speeds up to 28 mph as they wind down more than 3,000 feet of a stainless steel rail system built along the limestone bluff. The ride features seven hairpin turns and stunning views of the river valley below!

When riders reach the end, a cable system pulls the sled and riders back to the beginning.

Its expected this new ride will attract thousands of new visitors to the area. The Alpine Coaster is a major addition to an amazing array of attractions at Aerie’s Resort.

The Alpine Coaster fits in nicely with the resort already offering the  longest zipline course in the state, and in 2019 Aeries also added its aerial lift gondola ride which provides thrilling views of the Illinois and Mississippi rivers and bluffs.

The closest Alpine Mountain Coaster I could find was in Branson Missouri, although Chestnut Mountain in Galena has a fabulous Alpine slide.

The Aerie’s Alpine Coaster will be open year-round. Tickets are $18 per person or three rides for $36. Children can also ride the coaster with an adult for an additional $10.

This Stunning Park Has A Waterfall Staircase Trail That Provides Unbelievable Views

I have said it for years. Iowa’s Park System is vastly underrated. In fact you could even say its one of the hidden treasures of the Midwest. From the amazing caves of Maquoketa Caves State Park, to the gorgeous emerald spring at Backbone State Park. There is truly something for everyone in Iowa. One of my favorite parks in this beautiful state is Pikes Peak State Park. The park is located at 32264 Pikes Peak Rd, in McGregor, Iowa. For more information, click here.

The park is famed for its majestic views of the Mississippi River, Pikes Peak State Park is one of Iowa’s premier nature destinations. Located on a national scenic byway, the park features 11 miles of trails brimming with scenic bluffs and valleys.

One of the most unique hikes in the state is the boardwalk trail to Bridal Veil Falls, then follow the trail to Point Ann where you can overlook the town of McGregor from the top of a 500 foot bluff.

This is a hiker’s delight and one of the most picturesque regions in the state, Pikes Peak is a must for anyone wanting to see the breathtaking views of Iowa.

While your at Pikes Peak State Park, you should still take a detour to one of the beautiful overlooks. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better view anywhere in the Midwest – it will truly take your breath away.

Pikes Peak State Park is a great place to camp, too, if you want to take your time exploring the enormous park. The campground contains electric and non electric sites, a modern shower, restroom facilities and a trailer dump station. Some campsites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and advance reservations can be made through the online reservation system for Pikes Peak State Park.
