Have The Time Of Your Life This Summer At Sliding Rock!

Sliding Rock is located near Brevard in Western North Carolina.

The rock has long been used as a natural water slide for adventurous tourists and locals for many years.

The water is very cold and is popular for cooling off in the summer. The slide takes you all the way down the waterfall into the cool pool below.

It has a gentle slope and is about 60 feet long, ending in a large, deep pool (between 6–7 feet deep) at the bottom.

Sliding Rock is located on Looking Glass Creek in the Pisgah National Forest.

More than 11,000 gallons flow down the rock each minute!

Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10- 6 on days the slide is open.

It costs $4 per person to slide!

This is one of the area’s most popular swimming holes, I suggest visiting during the weekdays to avoid the crowds. This is a heavily-used recreation area; come early and try to avoid visiting during the peak hours of noon-4 pm. Periodically, the parking area fills up and will be closed until spaces become available. Plan to visit other nearby areas such as Looking Glass Falls or the Cradle of Forestry and come back to Sliding Rock later.

For more information, click here. Sliding Rock is located off of Highway 276 in Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. A more detailed description of the area can be found here.

Not a certified scuba diver? Don’t worry. You can still enjoy the cool spring water! Snorkeling is another popular activity enjoyed within Devil’s Den and no certification is required. This is one of Florida’s most amazing locations and worth a visit whether you scuba dive or not.

Bought in 1993 by the current owners, this natural wonder has been transformed from a simple scuba diving site to a world class tourist attraction.

Visit one of North America’s most prehistoric places, Devil’s Den Spring! This underground spring inside a dry cave has been home to many extinct animal fossils dating back to the Pleistocene Age, which are on display at The University of Florida’s Museum of Natural History.

On cold winter mornings you can see steam, like smoke, rising from the chimney opening.  Thus, the early settlers gave the name Devil’s Den.  With crystal clear water, year round 72 degree water temperatures,  ancient rock formations with stalactites, fossil beds dating back 33 million years, and much more, you’re guaranteed to leave with memories that will last a lifetime!

Devil’s Den Spring has a maximum surface diameter of 120 feet and reaches a depth of 54 feet. The water is a consistent 72 degrees year round, which is perfect for hot summer days.

You can rent all the scuba and snorkeling equipment you need, right on site.

Stay for the weekend. There is 4 cabins you can rent, an RV park, and tent camping is also available! The grounds have two shower houses with changing areas, picnic tables, fire pits, five cabanas, two pavilions, and a large heated pool.

If you are interested in learning to scuba dive and become a certified diver, this is a great place to learn. However Devil’s Den does not provide lessons. Many instructors around the area book dive times within the spring, to teach students.

Devil’s Den Spring is open 7 days a week, to make a reservation call (352) 528-3344. For more information, click here. The Spring is located at 5390 N.E 180th Ave Williston, Florida.
